Jason Wallace

B-flat Tuba

Jason is a native Texan. Growing up in Garland, he started playing the tuba in the 6th grade under the patient tutelage of Richard Murrow.  He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music from Texas A&M University-Commerce where he studied with Ed Jones. After graduation in 2002, he went on to earn a position with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and not long after, the Dallas Winds.  Jason performs with both ensembles to this day.

In addition to an active freelance career, Jason is in his 21st year of teaching as a band director in Texas.  He is in his 6th year teaching with his wife, Kara, in the Commerce Independent School District.  While his primary title is Director of Bands at Commerce Middle School, Jason spends time each day assisting at the high school where his wife is the Director of Bands and more recently, Fine Arts Director.  There daughter, Grace, is a phenomenal musician as well, with the flute being her instrument of choice.

Jason has extensive experience as a music educator and tuba player.  He has competed as a soloist at the Leonard Falcone International Tuba solo competition, as well as the ITEC solo competition.  His students and bands over the years have earned consistent superior ratings at UIL Solo & Ensemble, Concert & Sightreading, and UIL Marching competition.

Jason very much enjoys the musical challenges and camaraderie associated with being a member of the Dallas Brass Band.
