Danny Brock

In the process of earning two Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of North Texas in conducting and trumpet performance, Danny Brock is an enthusiastic educator and performer from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He currently serves as the assistant director of bands of Independence High School in Frisco, TX. 

 

Danny toured as a cast member of Blast! during their 2019 summer tour in Japan. He can be heard as a performing member on ten albums released by the UNT Wind Symphony. He has held the position of principal trumpet in both the UNT Symphony Orchestra and Opera in addition to being a member of the UNT Trumpet Ensemble. He has performed at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra conference and multiple instances at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference as well as with several surrounding regional orchestras including the Flower Mound and Texarkana Symphony Orchestras.

 

Danny has been involved in the marching arts for over a decade as an instructional staff member among multiple drum corps including the Santa Clara Vanguard, Phantom Regiment, and Blue Knights. He marched 3 years as a member of the Bluecoats, earning a bronze medal, leading the brass line as horn sergeant, and performing as a soloist within the years 2010, 2011, and 2012.

 

While a private instructor for Lewisville ISD, Keller ISD, and Northwest ISD, Danny founded the Timber Creek High School and Byron Nelson High School Trumpet Ensembles. Both ensembles were selected as the first ever high school ensembles to compete in the quarter-final round in the National Trumpet Competition (NTC) while also performing for the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Regional and Annual Conference in Oklahoma City, OK and San Antonio, TX respectively that same year.

 

Danny’s primary teachers include Professor Eugene Corporon and Professor John Holt. As a doctoral conducting associate, Danny conducted several University of North Texas ensembles including the Wind Symphony, Wind Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. He was a semi-finalist of the 2022 American Prize Wind Ensemble Division and has conducted multiple musicals nominated for best orchestra and best music direction. While a doctoral student at UNT, Danny served as the assistant conductor of the University of North Texas Brass Band under esteemed faculty Professor David Childs and Dr. Raquel Samayoa.

 

Danny is grateful for the opportunity to play soprano cornet in the Dallas Brass Band. In his free time, Danny loves training jiu-jitsu and going camping outdoors while being an avid reader of all things related to wind band research and pedagogy.
