Scott McLain

Principal Euphonium

Scott McLain started playing euphonium with the Dallas Brass Band in 2021 and hails from nearby Plano, Texas. Scott has studied euphonium with David Childs, Grant Jameson, and Sunny Chou while attending the University of North Texas for his bachelor’s in Music Education. He has been with the UNT Wind Orchestra and Brass Band, played trombone with the 5 O’Clock Lab Band, and was featured as a multi-instrumental soloist with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from 2021 to 2023. Recently, Scott has been a 2-time finalist in the UNT Concerto Competition. For the long term, Scott is looking to pursue a tuba-euphonium professorship where he can help students find their musical voice and also promote the brass band tradition to students across the country.
