Trevor Clipp

B-Flat Tuba

Hailing from Forney, Texas, Trevor Clipp is a freelance tubist and a dedicated low brass private lessons teacher. He holds a rich background in music education from the University of North Texas, where he graduated with a degree in Tuba Music Performance. At UNT, Trevor showcased his talents in various settings, including the 8 o'clock Jazz Lab Band, Tuba-Euphonium Ensembles, UNT Brass Band, Concert Orchestra, and the Symphonic Band.
 

Trevor's high school years at Forney High School were marked by significant achievements, a four-year TMEA All Region Qualifier, a three-year TMEA Area Qualifier, and a two-year TMEA All-State Qualifier. His proficiency earned him the title of Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition Outstanding Soloist (2015) and the Stephen F Austin Outstanding Musician in 2014. Furthermore, he placed third in the Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Student Competition in August 2015.
 

Trevor initially joined the Dallas Brass Band as the principal Eb tubist during its inaugural concert in 2017. At the time, his commitments to academic pursuits at the University of North Texas meant he couldn't fully commit to a permanent position and thus continued as a substitute. However, his dedication and passion for brass band music never waned. In 2020, Trevor auditioned and won position of Bb tuba, where he has been playing the low notes ever since.
 

A multi-faceted artist, Trevor is involved in an array of musical groups, ranging from Balkan brass bands like the Baba Yaga Orkestar and traditional jazz quartets to orchestras and British brass bands. His love for all cultures is reflected in his diverse musical engagements, including funk/pop/RnB brass bands, second-line performances, polka ensembles, and traditional jazz bands. His versatility also extends to local orchestras and wind bands, where he frequently performs.
 

Trevor is passionately committed to transcending cultural barriers through music. His involvement in teaching reflects this philosophy, as he nurtures the next generation of musicians with patience and expertise. Being part of the Dallas Brass Band is more than a collaboration for Trevor; it's a vital expression of his lifelong devotion to the arts. Each performance with the band is a reflection of his passion for music and his relentless pursuit of excellence.
